The Blackmarket Sound
Starting out in 2005, The Blackmarket Sound (BMS) are Steve Mixup and the RattKing. They have enlisted others on various projects including Tracey Beeby, Doggen, Joe Need, Jon Harris, Chris Paul Green, Miles Wilson, Simon Boswell, The G Man and Wayne Evans.
Since 2024, the releases by BMS have a slight 'library music' slant.
The early years were dominated by samples, beats, keyboard and saxophone. The back catalogue may be revisited in the future. You can hear some old BMS Remixes on the Blackmarket Sound Remixes music player.

HISTORY
It might be said that The Blackmarket Sound have gone through four phases 1. 2005-12, 2. 2016-17, 3. 2018-20 and 4. 2024 to the present day.
Phase 1 was dominated by lathe cut vinyl releases and a couple of live performances. Phase 2 was two side projects (Primitive Man & Goonsteppa) recorded at the 'Mousehouse' Studio, Nottingham and later released in 2024. Phase three was four lathe cut vinyl releases, again with samples, predominantly composed by Steve Mixup. Phase four has seen Steve Mixup & the RattKing embark on their current 'library music' kick
